Meta is expected to inform staff of job losses at its Irish operation this afternoon.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been cutting the workforce in recent months, with business groups being hit today.
Meta employs 2,600 people in Ireland, but it's not yet known how many will be let go.
Finance Minister Michael McGrath says the company needs to be straight-up with its employees.
"It is a matter now for Meta to explain and set out its decision to the workers who are affected.
"The state will be there to provide whatever support is necessary for anybody who may be facing the prospect of losing their job over the months ahead."
