A man who survived an attempt on his life in Tallaght in Dublin yesterday, is 'very well known to Gardaí.'
He was shot with a high power sub-machine gun in the Killinarden area at about 6.20 yesterday evening.
Despite being hit at least once, his injuries are not life-threatening and he is recovering in hospital.
Irish Daily Star Crime Correspondent, Michael O'Toole, says the victim, in his 30s, will not be surprised by the attempted hit:
"He was released from prison in July of this year. He was serving a long sentence in connection with the shooting of another man. He was originally charged with attempted murder. That charge was dropped and he was later convicted of firearms offences, but he is a notorious criminal from the greater Dublin area. He's very well known Gardaí. He has been involved in several feuds going back probably a decade".
