A man in his 80's has been killed in a road traffic collision in Co. Offaly.
It happened at around 7.45 last night when the pensioner was hit by a car on the R420 in Tullamore.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and a post mortem will be carried out on his body today at the Midlands Regional Hospital.
The road is closed this morning while forensic collision investigators examine the scene.
Gardaí are also appealing for witnesses - especially anyone who may have dashcam footage - to come forward.
