The majority of Cork's bathing waters have excellent or good water quality
Overall a survey by the Environmental Protection Agency found the quality of Ireland’s bathing water to be very high, with 97% of the 148 sites it monitors meeting or exceeding the minimum standards
Here in Cork of the 14 beaches surveyed 10 were found to have excellent bathing water quality with Coolmaine, Garretsown, Garryvoe and the Warren all found to have "good" bathing water quality
The high percentage of bathing water sites rated as ‘excellent’ is attributed by the EPA to the ongoing management of sites by local authorities and investment in urban wastewater infrastructure in recent years.
