Researchers have successfully altered the blood type of three donor kidneys in what they're calling a game-changing discovery.
It could have a major impact on those waiting for a transplant.
Scientists managed to change the organs to an "O" blood type, which have the potential to be matched to any patient.
Dr. Aisling McMahon from Kidney Research UK, hopes it'll have a big impact:
"Organs that are currently available are often not suitable for people from ethnic minority backgrounds due to their blood type and the matching process. If we can remove that matching process, what that means is there could be a fair allocation of organs across the community."
