An Air India flight heading to London Gatwick has crashed in Ah-me-da-bad in India
Local police say at least 242 people are on board, and it's come down in a 'civilian area' near the airport.
Flight radar signals were lost less than a minute after take-off this morning - footage on social media shows huge clouds of black smoke billowing into the sky.
Aviation security expert Julian Bray says there are so many unknowns at this point
"Very, very worrying it happened on departure, really I would expect it on sort of arrival, an incident like this to happen. We don't know what's happened. We don't know what the situation is regarding passengers and fatalities, a major incident plan is now being put in place"
