A leading security analyst says the Kinahan organised crime gang have become a victim of their own success.
Senior Gardaí say exploratory talks are underway about the possibility of the EU imposing further sanctions on the group.
That comes just days after the US announced worldwide sanctions on the crime cartel and a 5-million dollar reward for information on the leaders.
Security and defence specialist Declan Power, says they're now facing extreme measures across the globe:
"I think for the Kinahan's, unfortunately for them, they were the wrong bunch of criminals in the wrong place at the wrong time. The fact that they became so notorious and became so successful was down to you know, Kinahan Seniors ability to organise it. His vision to realise that for crime to become your longer lasting, meant that they had to have ties outside of the state with their own notoriety has undone them."
