The Labour Party says it has "no choice" but to table a motion of no confidence in the Government this week.

It'll use its private members' time on Wednesday to bring forward the motion.

It comes on the back of a vote in the Dáil last week not to extend the eviction ban which will end on Friday.

Labour TD Duncan Smith believes the motion of no confidence is an absolute must.

"Given the scale of the housing crisis, and the Government's decision not to extend the eviction ban, we feel we have no choice after months of offering solutions to the Government, including numerous motions and a proposed housing bill that the government has now rejected, that we have to now state on the record of the Dail that we have no confidence in this Government."
