The Labour Party says it wants to make flexible work "the default option and not the exception" in the workplace.
It's Flexible Working Bill is before the Oireachtas today and was created in response to the Government's Right To Request Remote Working Bill.
Labour TD Aodhan O'Riordan says his party's proposed legislation would create a faster system for those seeking to work from home.
"The government's bill demanded of people to wait 26 weeks before they could apply to work remotely and then a further 12 weeks for a decision to be made.
"So effectively the entire length of a pregnancy a worker would have to wait before they could have the option to work from home or work in a more flexible way, so what we want is to rebalance those rights."
