Labour is repeating its call for an independent inquiry into the GSOC controversy.
Gardai are now set to investigate allegations that a member of GSOC attended a party which was also attended by Gerry Hutch.
The Justice Minister says he believes this is the appropriate action to ensure public confidence is maintained in the Garda Watchdog.
Labour's Aodhan O'Riordain still thinks an independent inquiry is the way to go.
"It may have been relatively innocent, we don't know.
"Certainly it's absolutely bizarre that somebody who has access to such sensitive material, such an important job would end up in a social setting with somebody that has made declarations to the Criminal Assets Bureau in the past."
