He's apologised to constituents, colleagues, the Dáil and the Standards in Public Office Commission and has made seven amendments to his declaration.

Minister Troy says he was under the impression he only had to declare properties in his possession on December 31st every year, and not the assets in the intervening months.

Fine Gael senator Barry Ward says the junior minister's position is not in jeopardy:

"I accept what Robert Troy said about his mistaken belief as to what he had to declare. I think he has explained why the mistake was made, I believe his bona fides in having made the mistake. He has now made a comprehensive statement that corrects his return to the clerk of the Dáil and I think that is an end to the matter and I don't think there should be any further question about his position."
