Irish truckers heading through Britain to France are getting caught up in the chaos at Britain's Port of Dover.

Up to 30 Irish trucks have been affected by the gridlock which has caused delays of up to 8 hours across the weekend.

President of the Irish Road Haulage Association Eugene Drennan says it's a very costly problem for Irish trucks - with a loss of time, loss of contracts, and the cost of cooling sensitive loads of food and fish.

"For Irish people, it's difficult for them to envisage how big a situation is, they're what they call stacking, which is packing vessels afternoon roads into Dover and on the M20 and they're filtering trucks and cars through them, but the queue is forever building. So is is now very long talks have been held anywhere from 12 to 24 to 30 hours."
