The Irish Blood Transfusion Service says their stock of some blood groups have fallen to below three days supply because of last weeks floods.

Storm Babet meant a clinic in Dungarvan had to be cancelled because staff from Cork couldn't get to Waterford due to severe flooding in Killeagh, Youghal and Castlemartyr.

The IBTS says they also had to move a clinic from Vienna Woods Hotel because of the floods and road closures in Glanmire which meant less regular donors were able to make it to clinic.

Speaking to RedFM News, Julianne Kelly from the Irish Blood Transfusion Service is appealing to O-Negative, A-Negative, and B-Negative blood donors to contact them:

"We would ask them to respond urgently. We don't want the stock to fall any lower. It will impact hospital services as well. We just ask that they would respond and you know, to be fair, people have always responded when they've been asked, so we hope this time is no different".
