The Moon is set to turn a deep blood red colour during this mornings Lunar Eclipse, however anyone expecting to see it with the naked eye in Ireland will be disappointed.

Those lucky enough to be located in North America, Pacific Ocean and Eastern Asia will be able to witness the spectacle, but for those of us in Ireland, we will have to watch it online.

David Moore, Editor of Astronomy Ireland magazine says weather conditions in Ireland usually have an impact on our ability to witness the event.

"The problem is often that it's cloudy. So from Ireland, we actually see them less often than not, thanks to the weather.

"Certainly if you want to see a gloriously clear Eclipse, you could be looking on average every five to 10 years when you factor in the Irish weather.

"That's why we've set up links to several streaming locations around the world."
