Human rights experts are praising Ireland's response to the Ukrainian crisis - but warn it's not without its flaws.

It comes amid reports the Cabinet has seen a secret memo warning of growing social unrest over a looming accommodation crisis for Ukrainian refugees.

Collette Bennett from Social Justice Ireland says there's been a big improvement in the country's 'human rights first' approach - but there's also a huge reliance on community and voluntary sectors to support it.

"While what has been put out there and what is contained in the EU Temporary Protection Directive is very welcome and very good and absolutely should provide a blueprint. It isn't without its flaws, and in fact, what it is doing again, much in the same way as Covid-19 did. It's highlighting the deficiencies in our existing structures and our existing services."
