It's claimed restaurant staff are struggling to get home after work, due to a shortage of taxis.
Groups representing the nighttime sector have held talks with the National Transport Authority over the issue, saying customers and workers find it hard to get cabs.
They say the problem is particularly bad between 11pm and 3am.
Adrian Cummins, Chief Executive of the Restaurants Association of Ireland, says more investment in public transport is needed to cope with the taxi shortage:
"Taxis are turning their apps off at night and we don't have enough public transport to get people home. There has to be a whole government approach to this where we should have longer schedules at night time and nearly 24 hour schedule schedules for both routes home and also for the little cities."
