Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has said he isn't annoyed at the Department of Health over the handling of his proposed secondment to Trinity College.
Dr Holohan said he decided to pull out of the role following political controversy about it.
Secretary-General of the Department of Health Robert Watt has been accused of arrogance at an Oireachtas Committee for setting up the move while having the Department of Health continue to pay Dr Holohan's salary.
Despite the mess up, Dr Holohan says he isn't annoyed at colleagues or the Minister for Health.
"What I requested as part of the assessment of all of this and the nature of the opportunity was support, and that support was there.
"The support was there from the get go I have to say from the Secretary General here beside me, and the Secretary General of the government, support for the princible and the support to work through the detail of this, and from from the Minister.
"At any point I never felt that there was anything other than full support."
