The Health Minister wants the full implementation of the agreement reached with Non Consultant Hospital Doctors in December.

He's told the Irish Medical Organisation AGM in Kerry they must be able to take annual leave and avail of study leave.

Minister Stephen Donnelly says their long working hours must also be done away with:

"Excessive working hours must be eliminated - in particular the 24 hour shifts and longer than 24 hour shifts that we know some of our NCHDs are still being asked to work. And the agreement commits to eliminating that by the end of next year. We need to phase up the number of doctors we have at the same time".
