Cuts to excise on petrol and diesel are being retained until later in the year in a cost of living package going to Cabinet this morning.
The Finance Minister says families on lower-incomes will be supported through the government's package.
Michael McGrath says they will receive targeted support through the working family payment.
The package of measures will include a €100 child benefit lump sum and €200 social welfare payment.
The 9% reduced rate of VAT on the hospitality sector is set to be extended until August.
Minister for Trade, Enterprise and Employment Simon Coveney says it'll be costly to continue, but the sector continues to face significant challenges.
"The government is trying to get the balance right here by, on the one hand recognising that this was a temporary measure, and at the same time there are continuing challenges in this sector.
"This isn't a scheme that doesn't have significant amount of costs, this is this is in the hundreds of millions of euros but the government will have a discussion on that and, as you'd expect, my job is to is to give the perspective from an enterprise perspective, to make sure that we can protect businesses in the months ahead."
