Government To Meet Hospitality Sector On Tuesday As Some Restaurants And Bars Are Said To Be Breaking Covid Rules

The Government is to meet the hospitality sector on Tuesday as some restaurants and bars are said to be breaking covid rules.

New ESRI research shows the number of people not having their covid certs checked in pubs has soared from 21 per cent early last month to 37 per cent.

While 34 per cent of customers aren't having their covid passes checked in restaurants, up from 29 per cent.

Restaurants Association Chief Executive Adrian Cummins, says they have to find out which restaurants aren't abiding by the rules:

"Well, we need to look at the data from this research that the government have to make sure what type of business is not inspecting, what demographics, what areas, what counties, what locations, so we can zone in on this and improve on the inspection regime."
