The Government looks set to introduce a windfall tax on electricity companies.
A memo will go to Cabinet this morning seeking to introduce a cap on market revenue generated by electricity providers as the cost of living crisis deepens.
Earlier this year, the European Commission, including Taoiseach Micheál Martin, agreed a windfall tax on market revenue generated by electricity providers be introduced in December and remain in place until the end of June next year.
