The Government is hoping supermarkets will agree to lower the cost of groceries over the next few weeks.
Representatives from the country's main supermarkets will meet with officials on Wednesday amid inflation concerns.
The Government can introduce price caps on products if it wants to.
But Junior Enterprise Minister Neale Richmond is hopeful a resolution can be found instead.
"Even though prices have not come down for consumers, or they've gone up steadily over the last few months, the prices have not gone up for our farmers across the country.
"There's definitely something awry there in the middle, and I think the first step on Wednesday is to have the retail forum and go through all this detail.
"Hopefully we can come out of it late on Friday afternoon with a commitment from the supermarkets that prices will come down in the next couple of weeks."
