The Government has confirmed that a referendum on gender equality will be held this November.
Proposals for constitutional amendments are to be published by the end of June.
The Taoiseach, Integration Minister, and Education Minister will officially announce the details later this morning.
Labour Leader Ivana Bacik has welcomed the news, saying the Constitution in 2023 must be equal.
"I chaired the committee on gender equality last year.
"It was asked to consider the 45 recommendations of the Citizens' Assembly on gender equality, which really amount to a blueprint for a more equal Ireland, an Ireland in which women and men have equal opportunities and equal chances."
