Gardaí say they're seeing an increase in the use of cannabis jellies, drinks and vapes among young people.

674 minors entered a drug treatment programme last year.

The majority sought help for cannabis as their main problem drug.

Garda Crime Prevention Officer for Galway Sgt. Michael Walsh says children have mistaken cannabis jellies for normal sweets.

"Something might look harmless on the outset, and it may come in fancy packaging.

"It doesn't mean it won't have the same effects as drugs.

"What we're finding is that young children are being subjected to these, thinking that they're jellies or whatever, and they can become very sick from them."
