It's understood the discoveries of the bodies of two men in Monaghan yesterday are linked.

A 60 year old man died after being stabbed in his home in Broomfield.

Shortly after, a 37 year old man from Armagh is believed to have fled the scene before being hit by a car on the Castleblaney to Dundalk Road.

Crime Editor with the Irish Sun, Stephen Breen, says Gardaí are still trying to piece together what happened:

"The individual who was killed in the house died from multiple stab wounds and the guards would think that the individual who was then killed in the car crash, you know, is linked to that incident. So, but they're trying to go through the whole investigation and try and establish if there were any links between the two individuals just to see if they're, if they can establish a motive."
