The president is expected to arrive shortly at Garda Kevin Flatley's funeral in Balbriggan.

The 49 year old was killed in the line of duty while on a speed check near Swords in Dublin on Sunday.

As the funeral cortège heads for St Peter and Paul’s church, colleagues from around the country have gathered to pay their respects.

Colleagues have been remembering the father of two, who served in Pearse Street and Blanchardstown before moving to Dublin Castle in 2018.

It’s expected he’ll receive a full guard of honour. Among those attending as well are the Garda commissioner and some cabinet ministers representing the government.

A full delegation from Dublin castle has been escorted in, and it’s expected his roads policing colleagues will escort Garda flatly to his final resting place.
