Gardaí have described the number of fatalities on the roads this year as 'worrying.'

Seven people have died in crashes since Thursday, the most recent of those in Limerick in the early hours of this morning.

Two people died in a crash on the M50 in Dublin on Friday, an incident Gardaí begged the public NOT to share images of.

Assistant Commissioner at the Roads Policing Division, Paula Hillman, says everyone needs to look out for one another:

"Because a worrying trend for us. We're very much focused on thinking of those families who have lost loved ones over this weekend. But this year as well, our road deaths unfortunately have increased with 77 people killed on our roads, so it's every day when we're on the roads, whether it's drivers, motorcyclists, pedestrians, cyclists - that we all go to for one another".
