Free contraception for women aged 17 to 25 and the abolition of public hospital inpatient charges for children, could be available at the end of August.

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly says they are working towards its implementation in late August or early September.

It's after the law giving effect to the measures was passed this week in the Dáil, and signed by President Michael D Higgins.
