An investigation's expected to get underway after a funfair ride collapsed in County Antrim.

Four children have been taken to hospital after it happened at Planet Fun at Carrickfergus Harbour, where a major incident was declared last night.

Three of the children are being treated at Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children and one child has been taken to Antrim Area Hospital.

It's believed a number of other children who didn't need to be brought to hospital suffered injuries to their legs.

SDLP Councillor for Antrim and Newtownabbey Alderman, Thomas Burns, says emergency services rushed to the scene:

"The ambulance service, and the emergency services all got into action very, very quickly, I believe. Once they tried to get the people off the ride, which was a difficult thing, then getting them to hospital. Yes, but I think they were terribly, terribly frightened."
