The Finance Minister has welcomed a strong start to the year for the domestic economy.
Modified domestic demand grew by 2.7 per cent in the first three months of the year, when compared to the previous quarter.
However, overall the economy contracted by 4.6 per cent in the first quarter of 2023, as measured by GDP.
Finance Minister Michael Mc Grath says that reflects a fall in exports and specifically the globalised activities of the multinational sector.
He says GDP isn't a useful measure of living standards though.
