Finance Minister Michael McGrath says the EU’s Economic forecast for Ireland shows solid growth for this year and next year.
His comments come as the European Commission published its Spring Economic Forecast which says the European economy continues to show resilience despite global challenges.
However it also points out core inflation remains persistently high.
Speaking in Brussels Minister McGrath says inflation levels are coming down in Ireland and will average just over four and a half percent this year and will fall further next year.
"It does portray overall a positive outlook for the Irish economy, both in terms of growth, falling inflation, and also in relation to robust employment levels across the economy.
"That is particularly welcome, and is consistent with the data that we have brought forward as a Government in recent weeks as well."
