The housing crisis means renters living in sub-standard accommodation are fearful of speaking out as they may be left without a roof over their head.
That's according to the national housing charity, Threshold who say a recent survey revealed that three in every four renters say it's common to have problems with mould or damp in their rental properties.
Ongoing rent increases, both legal and illegal, are putting further pressure on already financially squeezed renters alongside other housing issues such as unfair evictions.
The charity has dealt with over 800 eviction notices across Cork so far this year with 50% of these notices found to be invalid. Threshold says the termination of a tenancy has become a frightening prospect for many renters as alternative properties just aren't easily available.
Southern Regional manager with Threshold, Edel Conlon outlined to RedFM News just some of the issues that tenants are raising with them in relation to accommodation.
