There are fears an increase in e-scooter use could lead to less walking and cycling.
Obesity experts believe some users are missing out on the health benefits of an active commute.
Carel Le Roux, obesity specialist at St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin, doesn't think it'll greatly impact obesity levels:
"I think our concerns here just need to be framed within the context of what we're trying to do. And if that is that we want to increase health, that's a really good idea. And you know, for people to exercise more, but if it is to prevent obesity, or not sure that will be very successful."
