Ex Ireland and Ulster Rugby player David Tweed has died in a motorbike crash in Co. Antrim.

The crash happened on the Whitepark Road near Dunseverick yesterday afternoon.

The sportsman was also a prominent unionist.

DUP MLA Mervyn Storey remembers his rugby achievements:

"He was a formidable rugby player, having made more than 30 appearances for Ulster. Capped four times for Ireland after making his international debut against France in 1995, the five nations championship. He was also part of the Ireland squad in the Rugby World Cup in South Africa."
