Eir is planning to roll out electric vehicle charging points at former phone box locations.
The company says 180 telephone kiosks around the country will initially be targeted, with no charge for local councils.
Its first EV charging station was installed in Carlow town last year.
It comes as a survey on retro activities by YouGov in the UK, found 60 per cent of 18 to 29-year-olds have never used a phone box.
