A Dublin man accused of firearms offences after the death of his sister Sandra Boyd in Finglas has been further charged with killing the mother of five.

Derek Boyd appeared before Cloverhill District Court today.

36 year old Sandra Boyd was killed in a suspected accidental shooting incident at her house in Collins Place, Finglas, Dublin, on the 19th of March.

Her younger brother Derek, also from Collins Place, was initially charged with unlawful possession or control of five rounds of ammunition and a semi-automatic pistol at his sister's home address on March 19.

He has remained in custody since while Gardaí sought directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Today Detective Sergeant Damien Mangan charged Mr Boyd with manslaughter

The accused was visibly upset and replied, "I am sorry," when the charge was put to him in court.

The judge noted the DPP directed trial on indictment in the Circuit Court.

There was no application for bail.

The accused was remanded in custody pending the preparation of a book of evidence and will appear again on July 22.
