Dog owners have been warned of several toxic threats their animals could face this weekend...which could lead to their death.

With humans gorging on chocolate Easter Eggs over the next few days, Dog Trust has warned that even a small piece of chocolate could be fatal for our four legged friends.

The charity also warns against feeding dogs hot cross buns...or even drinking water out of a vase of Daffodils.

Dogs Trust spokesperson Corina Fitzsimons explains why you need to keep your Easter Eggs under lock and key:

"So chocolate contains a substance called theobromine, which us humans can break down and metabolise, but dogs can't. It takes a lot longer and basically it results in toxicity, and that interferes with the normal functioning of their central nervous system, their heart and their kidneys - and unless they're gotten to a vet on time, unfortunately it can actually lead to death".
