Discussions are continuing today on sectoral emissions targets.

The Green Party wants the agriculture emissions to be cut by 30%, but a deal is likely to be between 24 and 26%.

Some backbench government TDs have called for a decision to be delayed until September, but environmentalists say waiting only kicks the problem down the road.

Architect and environmentalist, Duncan Stewart, believes working together can help bring down emissions:

"Small farmers around Ireland, they're not the problem, farmers will do the right thing if they're given the right structures in place and the right market, access to market, etc. At the moment, we're locked into a very wrong agricultural policy, and our farmers are not being informed about the problem, they're like the pawns that are being used in this whole situation."
