There has been a decline in the number of homes bought with a mortgage.
CSO statistics show 63 per cent of residential properties were purchased with a mortgage in 2021, down from 65 per cent in 2019.
The median age of all purchasers increased from 35 in 2010 to 39 in 2021.
The CSO today released it's Characteristics of Residential Property Purchases for 2021.
It shows the proportion of homes bought in Ireland with a mortgage that year was 63 per cent , down from a high in 2019 of 65 per cent.
Buyers with a mortgage had a median age of 37 , compared with 47 for those who bought without a mortgage.
Overall the median age of home buyers was 39 in 2021, that's up from 35 in 2010.
The median price paid for a home for those with a mortgage was 309,000, that compares to 220,000 euro for those who did not have a mortgage.
A median income of 79,200 was recorded for buyers who had a mortgage.
