The Court of Appeal has rejected all 52 arguments raised by Patrick Quirke as to why his conviction for Bobby Ryan's murder should be overturned. The farmer from Breanshamore, Co Tipperary, is serving a life sentence for murdering his love rival and local DJ, who went by the name Mr Moonlight.Patrick Quirke is now two and a half years into his life sentence for the murder of Bobby (Mr. Moonlight) Ryan.

During his 71 day trial, the prosecution claimed he killed him in order to rekindle the relationship with the local DJ, his girlfriend, Mary Lowry.

All of the evidence against him was circumstantial, and over half the time was taken up by legal challenges.

The admissibility of Ms. Lowery's evidence was contested, and they took issue with the warranties to search Quirke's home and the judges handling of certain aspects of the trial.

In a 118 page judgement the three judges who heard his appeal last year asked themselves whether they'd heard anything during the course of the four day hearing that caused them to have doubts as to the safety of the verdict handed down in 2019, or the fairness of the trial.

In the end, they concluded that wasn't the case and dismissed his appeal.
