A conference today will discuss the advancements made in treating concussion.
UPMC and UCD are hosting the event in Dublin over this sports-related injury.
The conference will hear from the GAA, IRFU and experts from the United States.
UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Programme Executive Director Dr Micky Collins says more is known now about treating concussion:
"Now we're actually matching the right treatments for the right problems, instead of looking at this in a one-size-fits-all way. And so the real advances that have been made is understanding risk factors of concussion, how this injury presents and how we can treat this through active rehabilitation and treatment. And really concussion is a treatable injury".
