Community service workers on the picket line in the city today say they expect further strike action unless pay is increased.

SIPTU say employees working in disability and social care are playing a vital role in society but have not received a wage increase for the past 14 years.

Strikes are ongoing at the Irish Wheelchair Association in Blackrock, EmployAbility on Penrose Wharf and at St Joseph’s Foundation in Charleville.

Staff at Enable Ireland’s Lavanagh Centre in Curraheen will picket on Friday.

Speaking to RedFM News outside the Irish Wheelchair Association’s offices, Peter O’Brien from SIPTU says retention of staff is a massive issue at the moment.
