The Children's Ombudsman's expressed concerns over children's trauma services.

It comes as the office received an increase of almost 80 per cent in the number of complaints last year.

Ombudsman for Children, Dr Niall Muldoon, says one case demonstrates how a foster carer struggled to get support for three children who needed help:

"The idea that there's three young children... siblings: Nina, Darren and Ben, we call them, between 9 and 12 years of age, who have been with the foster care family - a fabulous foster care family for last five years, and they have suffered horrendous trauma during their time with their home family. The foster parents came to us because they found they couldn't get consistent, long-term, trauma-informed therapy for these children".
