Charlie Bird is to be awarded the Freedom of Wicklow.
Labour Councillor and Cathaoirleach Paul O'Brien brought the motion last night and it was passed unanimously.
The former reporter will soon join names like Katie Taylor and Daniel Day Lewis on the list as a result.
Charlie Bird, who was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease last year, has thanked the Council for 'extending the hand of friendship.'
