A homeless charity says urgent action is needed to increase the State's housing stock, to deal with the homeless crisis.
Almost 12,000 people were accessing emergency accommodation last month.
The increase in homelessness took place while the Winter Eviction Ban was still in effect.
Dermot Murphy, director of services with Depaul, says the newly announced housing measures need to be closely monitored:
"We know that many people of the people we are working with, they're living in trepidation about what's going to come. We can't afford to underplay that human misery that's attached to the crisis. We think it's essential that newly announced housing measures - that they are closely monitored".
