Presidential candidate Catherine Connolly says there are "serious questions" about the release of information related to her hiring a woman with a firearms conviction.
Speaking on the campaign trail in Cork, the independent TD said the woman in question served her sentence, was rehabilitated, and has turned her life around.
Speaking to RedFM News Deputy Connolly says the matter also raises questions about the risk of the details of someone's vetting process going public
"There are serious questions to be asked here as to how this became a public story. Where do privacy rights come into how was this released? Who released this, for what benefit, and if somebody or an entity wants to get me into trouble, surely an innocent person shouldn't be used whatever about trying to damage me, which is another matter"
