Ireland's car hire prices should decrease this summer, after the fleet was de-stocked due to the pandemic.
Lat year rental prices increased by 267%, according to a survey by Discovercars.com.
Transport commentator Conor Faughnan says it was a continent-wide issue.
"It wasn't unique to Ireland, it was a pattern right across Europe and it was a post-pandemic thing.
"During the pandemic obviously the car hire companies de-stocked, in Ireland we went down from 21,000 hire cars in the fleet down to about 10,000, and that happened all across Europe.
"There was a delay in restocking them, all global supply chains slowed down, so you couldn't get new cars in, and that was a universal pattern."
