Amhrán na bhFiann should be learned in the classroom, so people don't continue to mumble it at matches.
That's the view of the organiser of a new campaign, encouraging children to learn the Irish national anthem.
The ‘Learn our Anthem’ competition is encouraging primary school children to learn the song and send a video of their performance in time for March 17th.
Rachel J Cooper who is heading up the campaign, says it should be sang more than once a year in schools.
"I'm not saying that kids every day in school or in assembly should sing it every morning, not at all - just more than once a year.
"I know that it's around St Patrick's day and everybody learns it then in school, it should focus more in the classroom and if it did we would carry it forward into our adult lives.
"When it comes to occasions where we should be proud to sing it, in crowds at matches for example, that we all know the words"
