There are calls to redraw county boundaries in Ireland.
Professor of Politics at DCU, Eoin O'Malley, says merging some smaller counties would deliver better services, and forming one council would make sense administratively and historically.
He says some counties are too small to efficiently provide the services the people living there need.
Eoin O'Malley says we are too attached to the English county system:
"Dublin is much, much bigger than any other parts of the country. Probably, instead of having four counties within Dublin, it might be better to have one. Then you certainly can see in some places like Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim - they might be better off - it might be easier for them to administer and deliver services with the removal of those county boundaries".
