A 'Big Beach Clean' in Co Clare has resulted in nearly 2.5 tonnes of litter taken from the west coast.
Volunteers from 25 groups participated in the litter picking as part of an International Coastal Cleanup initiative.
The Clare Echo reports a marine litter survey was also taken during the efforts.
A new volunteer group has been established, under the name of 'Seafield Clare', to carry out future beach sweeps.
